Religious people stayed out of politics in the 70’s and 80’s. The election of 1980 changed little. The Reagan Presidency Ronald Reagan and the Republicans supported “Demand-Side” economics. Reagan and the Republicans argued that the government should regulate the economy. In Reagan’s second term there was a scandal involving Iran and Nicaragua. Defeating Communism and Creating a New World Order The Soviet Union collapsed for 2 main reasons. Three events in the Middle East had an impact on the Bush presidency. Anita Hill was a strong supporter of George Bush. The Clinton Presidency Health-care reform was an early success of the Clinton administration. Bill Clinton was a strong conservative. The “Contract with America” showed the strength of Clinton and the Democrats. Bill Clinton was impeached. The Clinton Administration was isolationist and had no involvement in world affairs.
